Is There an English Version of Qzone?

You can access and share content on Qzone in English with QQ International. Although the full version of Qzone is available to Mandarin speakers only, international users who don’t speak the language can still enjoy the main features of Tencent’s popular social network – one of the world’s largest.

Sharing your life moments with friends and following their Qzone feeds is made incredibly easy and intuitive by QQ International for Android and iPhone/iOS. You can publish your notes and photos through the integrated Qzone interface. Tap “Explore” on the bottom tabbed navigation and then “Qzone”. You will instantly see your friends’ latest updates, as follows:

Access Qzone with your browser

We don’t offer an English version of Qzone yet. If you speak Chinese you can login to Qzone using your QQ International account and start using the many features of Tencent’s renowned social network.

However, if you don’t read Chinese and use Chrome as your preferred browser, you can go to Settings -> Advanced Settings, and check the box for “Offer to translate pages that aren’t in a language I read”. Then the Qzone page will be displayed in your desired language.

If you use Internet Explorer, you can install Google Toolbar or any other plug-in to obtain an in-page translation of your selected Qzone profile or feed.

Well, even Chrome did not translate whole pages in QZone. Some phrases and tabs stays in Chinese. I believe many people will be happy if there is an English version for QZone.

There are many foreign users of QZone and QQ. The lack of multiple languages makes it very difficult for us to use QQ/Zone. I promise you, many foreigners will be very happy to help with translation.

If you crowd-source the translation task, you will have complete translation in many languages, very quickly with low cost.

I love QQ. I can speak Chinese, but find reading Hanzi characters very difficult. Even with a Chinese wife, we had great difficulty in finding a ‘help’ or ‘contact’ page from the Chinese q-zone. We just wanted to know how to change my q-zone to English. I knew it could be done because one of the other professors had his q-zone in English. Finally I stumbled upon the international q-zone page with its ‘contact us’ tab at the bottom, so I could send a message, rather than phone an array of automated numbers that were of no use.
Now I see that my web browser can be updated to Chrome, and that will solve the problem. I have resisted Chrome because of privacy and control reasons – it is more invasive, secretive, and controlling without the user even knowing. Besides, it will be in American, and NOT English, which is really frustrating.
So, PLEASE – Q-zone with optional languages would be wonderful, and I’d be more than willing to help with translations [I have donse so for local government as well as university websites here in China]. Also ENGLISH would be a nice option rather than American English (not even an official language!)… but maybe I’m hoping for too much – the majority of the Internet mainframe is in America after all!
Until such a time, however, I shall continue to use and enjoy QQ as it is.

  11. Thank you for showing me how to use QQ in English ! Its amazing. Even better that the commercial FB !

I wish someday there to be Native English version !

  12. Gordon Ramel says:

The Chrome translation is better than nothing, but only just, it is slow and cumbersome. I am an Englishman teaching in China, I have opened a qq account to stay in touch with my Chinese students. A proper English version of Qzone would make the international part of QQ International seem a little more realistic. If you want to be part of the international market, then you must accept the need for English, as unfair as this may be.

  13. Annie says:

I agree with everyone here. I’m CBC (Canadian Born Chinese), I speak Chinese, my parents are Chinese, but since I’ve grown up in Canada, I don’t know how to read Chinese characters. I did take a Mandarin class but I only know the basic characters like 我,你,是, etc. I use QQ and QZone to keep in touch with my cousins in China. Fortunately there’s QQ in English now but it would be great if we could have an English version of QZone. I would even help you translate in French if you wish. (I speak both English and French). Thank you!

    • QQi says:

Dear Annie, thanks for your support, we are really happy that you enjoy our QQ International. For now we’ve rolled out this new product: http://qqchat.qq.com .. I’m sure you’ll love it! Who knows, perhaps in the future we’ll work on a QZone in English (or even French) and you will be more than welcome to help ;)
