In QQ International chat window, you will see “Translate” button at the bottom left corner. This feature enables you to translate the chat conversation between 50+ languages.
Step 1: Customize Translator Settings
First customize your translator settings to use chat translator effectively. To customize your translator settings and select the languages you want to use in the translator, click “Translator” button and then “Translator Settings” button as below.
Depending on your translator settings, you can choose to:
- Add or delete different language to language translation choices.
- Attach the original text to the translated version.
- Automatically translate and send the message you have written in your chat window. By default, after clicking “Translate” you need to click“Send” to send the translated message to your contact.
- Hide or display the translate button in your chat windows.
Once you customize your translator settings, click OK to save.
Step 2: Translating Incoming Message
To translate incoming message, highlight the message and you will see a pop-up menu as shown below. Select the translation setup you want, e.g. English->Chinese
Then click on the two-way translation button again and the translation in your chosen language will appear in the pop-up window.
Step 3: Translating Outgoing Message
To translate outgoing message and click ‘Translate’ icon as below.
For each chat window, QQ International will remember what language you used last time.
To save time, we recommend you to use the hotkey ALT+E to translate your messages instead of clicking on the “Translate” button.

Dear Qaiser it’d be great to have a Urdu version. Would you like to contribute and help? Please let us know at qqimktg@gmail.com
Incoming translations need to be automatic, it’s too much hassle clicking so much for every message. Why is this only available for windows and not the OSX and iOS version? They are very neglected (feature wise).
Hi Lalo, the translation feature can be made automatic -> http://blog.imqq.com/?p=176
Unfortunately, anything with the word blog at the beginning is blocked in China, but I would have thought you knew that. In addition, translating the incoming message like you describe doesn’t always work. I have a message that I have been trying to translate for 15 minutes and the pop-up you describe never appears and yes, I have the setting set correctly.
Hi Paul, thanks for getting in touch. Just tried translating “blog” via QQ, whilst in China, and had no problems at all translating it like this: blog (博客). I’m sure you’re having some connections problems… please check your network! Where are you based?
Hi,
I like this so much, I am new in china and i want to make some friends this option will help me ..
Thanks.
my qq translator is not working..for one week now..both incoming and outgoing messages…fix it soon..thanx
Hi Tecy here is working all fine, no system problems. I don’t know – are you perhaps on a VPN?
I am using QQ International. For over a year now, I have used QQ translator without problem. The translations are sometimes slow or do not function when the Internet connection is poor. I have QQ on both my home computer and my work computer. My work computer will no longer translate incoming or outgoing messages. It has not worked for several days. My home computer still works well. Yesterday, I installed a newer version of QQ on my work computer. This version has moved the “translation” button between the “close” and “send” buttons. I still cannot get the translation to work.
Is it possible that I have clicked something to turn off the translator or made the translation option unavailable? I cannot find the problem. Any help or advice you have will be appreciated.
Dear Robert, we just forwarded this problem to our developers. It sounds a bit strange – may I ask you what’s your location? Are you using any VPN service?

Kindly do the needful immediately.
Thanks and Regards,
Sargunan
Dear Sargunan, please send us a detailed report at qqimail@tencent.com and we’ll fix it asap.
I just updated QQ International from 1.4 to 1.6, all of a sudden, I am getting an error “(Error: 200-character translation limit per message.)” when i try to translate incoming and outgoing messages and its on all friends even if i translate “hello” I am pretty sure I am translating less than 200 characters so why am I getting this error? i try on different friends and get the same error.
Dear Amit, please check our reply to fellow QQ friend Yousaf in this thread
i have problem in myqq translator.when i just click on translate.the following page appear.”error.it cannot translate more than 200 characters.”but i have only selected only one or two words just to translate.can you help me?if yes please reply
Hi Yousaf! Basically you can use our translator to either output fully translated phrases (this is done through the “Translate” button and submenu at the bottom of the chat window), or otherwise by selecting phrases and words from a conversation inside a chat window. In the latter case you will need to highlight the words (or double click on one) and then click on the blue “Translate” icon that will pop up automatically. Still haven’t solved this problem? Please send us some detailed report and include some screenshots -> Our Customer Service mail is qqimail@tencent.com
The qq translaor has stopped working for me. I have rebooted my computer twice now to resolve the problem with no luck! It also translates very slowly at times when I am translating incoming messages. What is the problem with it? Can it be resolved?
Hi Jim, would you please send us a detailed report about your problem? We’d like to know where you’re based, what sort of connection you’re using, whether you’re behind a proxy (office or university network for instance) or VPN service. Send the details to qqimail@tencent.com – thanks!
Great app, use for work too…. Would be great if you could have all those functions you grant windows system with, for Mac computers too, xie xie

Dear Huzaifa is it still not working?
translator stopped working
Hi,
sometimes it’s so difficult to do it.
and my advice to developer please make more easy for QQ user.
thanks for previous version and i hope can and waiting for new systematics.
Hi, everybody,I’m from China. I hope to know many friends from all over the world, and better learning English.
Welcome you and be my friend。
If you want to learn Chinese, plus I QQ1264232494, maybe I can help.
I think your site is awesome but have a couple of suggestions that I think would help us English users. First, translation from Chinese to English is very slows and often does not work at all if Chinese print is too large…can you set a max size of say 12 point font? Second, can you open other QQ sites to allow translation of all content to other languages…I have a personal QQ profile but cannot see how to navigate to those that are contacting me nor understanding the messages their leaving me.
Greatly appreciated and keep up the great improvements.
Thanks for your feedback! Well noted
My translator for incoming messages has stopped working and has not worked now for several week. It works just fine, although very slow at times for outgoing messages. My way of handling the incoming messages has been to copy and past them in the outgoing message area, change the translation from english to chinese, translate the incoming message, then delete it, and write my response, change the translator back to the original setting. translate, and then send it. It is slow and cumbersom but it works. Would appreciate the translator be updated so this would not have to be done this way. thanks. BigJim
Please help, I have QQ for Mac version 2.3, but I do not see a translate button on the bottom left as you say in your tutorial?
