You can login to QQ International by using the email address provided when you signed up for a QQ account. This email address and the corresponding QQ number/ID are equally valid forms of identification.
Because your email is linked to your QQ number you have the option to use email as your screen name (please refer to this article for further details).
How do you change the email address associated to your QQ account?
When QQ International for Windows is running you must first open the Main Panel then click on your personal picture to open up your Profile, then click on the little icon next to your name.
Please notice that this action will open a website in Chinese where you can easily change your credentials. Check this out if you need help understanding our pages in Mandarin.
You can choose to use your email address or your QQ number as your display ID. This will be shown next to your nickname in all of your chats: while in a group or in a private conversation with a friend.
If you’ve signed up to QQ International using your phone number then your screen name/display ID is your QQ number by default.
To modify your display ID you first need to open your profile information and edit it. This can be done from the Main Panel: click your profile picture, open “My Profile”, then click the icon next to your nickname that says “Change my Display ID”.
This will open a browser page leading you to the QQ ID Center which, at the moment being, is only available in Mandarin Chinese – we suggest you to take a look at this selection of useful applications to translate Mandarin web pages, and many apologies for the inconvenience.
If suddenly you can’t send out friend requests it’s because our server has temporarily blocked your account from doing so. This is a security precaution to keep away spammers from QQ Internationals: we have surely received complaints against your account for inappropriate activities such as sending contact requests too frequently or posting unsolicited advertisements.
Please don’t worry: you should be able to add contacts again after 24 hours.
If such inappropriate activities continue to occur, your ID will be locked out for a longer period of time. Please read our Terms of Service and familiarize yourself with our rules and regulations.
If QQ International doesn’t let you add any more contacts then you have probably sent out too many friendship requests in a short amount of time. In this case our system will first give you a warning, and then will temporarily disable your account for up to 24 hours if you keep sending contact requests too frequently.
More particularly, if you receive an error message saying that your account has been locked for “over-frequent operation or suspicious behavior” it indicates that someone has reported you for inappropriate activities such as posting advertising information when adding new contacts.
We do not tolerate spamming or unsolicited advertising – please refer to our Terms of Service and thank you in advance for your understanding.
Another reason for not being able to add new contacts to your QQ International friends list is that you have probably exceeded the limit of 500 contacts for regular QQ accounts (1000 if you have a VIP account).
We are sorry but a QQ account cannot be removed by users. We do this for your own good: if someone manages to steal your account details we don’t give this thief a chance to eliminate your account – our Security Center always offers legitimate users a way to recover a compromised account.
However our system will automatically remove an account that doesn’t login
- Within 3 days from registration
- Within 45 days after a one-off login at the time of registration
- For 3 consecutive months at any time
It’s crucial that you login to your account at least once every 3 months to keep it active. Once your account is deactivated and removed from our system you will lose all your contacts, history, and data associated to your account (add-ons, emoticons…).
But don’t worry: we will notify you via email if you’re approaching the 3 months limit and haven’t logged in yet. Your email is automatically linked to your QQ account when you sign up however if you have an old account then you probably want to read this to ensure we can reach you via email.
